Known has chosen DreamHost as its web hosting sponsor. Known enables “individuals and groups to own their social activity online.” The company has headquarters in San Francisco, California, USA and the online solution “powers tens of thousands of social community sites” with group sites “used by universities and organizations around the world”. The agreement between Known and DreamHost will see the web host acting as the exclusive web hosting sponsor for Known.
DreamHost, which has headquarters in the Los Angeles, California, hosts around 1.3 million blogs, websites and applications. These include shared hosting, Virtual Private Servers (VPS), dedicated server hosting, domain name registration, its DreamObjects public cloud storage service, and its DreamCompute public cloud computing service. The company caters to a customer base of around 370,000 people with a wide range of web hosting and cloud options. The company’s services are underpinned by Open Source software including OpenStack and Ceph. DreamHost’s sponsorship of Known will enable the company to “fund further development” of the Known platform and “allow Known users to easily find high-quality hosting for their sites at a special price”. DreamHost will have a presence on all of Known’s websites.
