Spiderhost Announces PCI DSS Compliance

July 18, 2009 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Spiderhost, a privately owned custom IT solutions, managed services, and data center company, is pleased to announce its compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

SecurityMetrics, Inc., a PCI Approved Scanning Vendor, completed reviews of Spiderhost’s hosting network, encryption, and security in May and July. Both scans determined that Spiderhost is compliant with the PCI scan validation requirement of the PCI data security initiative.

Spiderhost president Dale Frohman is pleased with SecurityMetrics' results, saying, “What this means for our dedicated server and colocation customers is lower transaction costs and fewer worries, because we handle all of their PCI DSS compliance issues.”

According to Wikipedia, PCI DSS is an international information security standard created by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) to help organizations prevent credit card fraud. Associated sub-standards and controls apply to all organizations that hold, process, or transfer cardholder information from any card branded with a major brand, such as Visa.

Frohman said that being PCI compliant assures Spiderhost customers that industry standards for security, confidentiality, and cardholder data protection are being upheld.

Adds Frohman, “This is just one more benefit of outsourcing hardware and network management. By using our servers they don't have to worry about monitoring and maintaining physical security, operating system patches, or other security. In a nutshell, they can focus on their core business and sales, not IT.”
