Technology Ecosystems Provider Switch Unveils SUPERNAP 8 Data Center
Technology ecosystems provider Switch has unveiled its newly expanded SUPERNAP 8 data center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The expansion adds to what was already the "largest and most advanced data center ecosystem" in the world.

Building on the technological benefits of SUPERNAP 7, the new SUPERNAP 8 facility offers an innovative design, high capacity, and high density levels. The center will provide colocation and connectivity services alongside providing cloud and content environments. It will also cater for around 600 global clients, including Fortune 100 companies.

SUPERNAP 8 provides 200 MVA of power and 16 million CFM of cooling, enabling the center to provide more than 20,000 cabinets with usage levels equivalent to nearly 100,000 cabinets of space. Key features of the center include a roofing system that offers two independent, separate steel roof decks which are attached to the facility's concrete and steel shell and designed to secure the facility against extreme weather conditions. In addition, SUPERNAP 8 provides the Switch IRON BLACK FOREST temperature control system which converts heat into cold and helps the center achieve HVAC resiliency ratings beyond industry standards. SUPERNAP 8 also offers 200 MVA of power and 16 million CFM of cooling enabling the center to provide more than 20,000 cabinets with usage levels equivalent to nearly 100,000 cabinets of space. In addition, it offers Switch ROTOFLY, a patent-pending flywheel design that helps cool the center.

SUPERNAP 8, and key aspects of the technology it contains, were invented by Rob Roy, Switch's CEO and founder. Mr. Roy has 218 patents and patent pending claims for data center systems, data center designs, and related industry technologies. “It is our mission at Switch to solve problems, develop smart systems and think beyond tomorrow for the benefit of our clients, and SUPERNAP 8 is a direct result of this mission,” explained Mr. Roy.
