Telecommunications Company CenturyLink Announces Agreement with Australian Data-Center-as-a-Service Provider NEXTDC Limited
Telecommunications company CenturyLink has announced an agreement with Australian Data-Center-as-a-Service provider NEXTDC Limited. The company, which has headquarters in Monroe, Louisiana, USA, offers a range of communications and data services to residential, business, governmental and wholesale customers. Its agreement with NEXTDC Limited will give the company a presence in Australia where it will offer its hybrid IT services to "regional and multinational corporations".

The agreement means CenturyLink's managed hybrid IT, managed hosting, and colocation and cloud services will be accessible through NEXTDC's five data centers located in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Sydney. The company will start an Australian public cloud service later in the year. The agreement also allows the two companies to "sell into each other's data centers" - an approach that Australian businesses will find valuable as it will allow them to extend their international reach.

"We are eager to offer our managed hybrid IT services and consistent IT experience to multinational corporations in Australia, one of the most connected countries in the world," explained CenturyLink's Asia Pacific Managing Director, Gery Messer. "The extension of CenturyLink's data center footprint into Australia signifies our commitment to serve growing customer demand for IT services in the Asia-Pacific region."
