May 16, 2005
May 16, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - The Business Software Alliance (BSA) and Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) announced a forum and panel session entitled, "Battling International Organized Cyber Crime," featuring United States Secret Service Director Ralph Basham as the keynote speaker.

The forum is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. BSA and CSIS will bring together today's leading experts in the fields of law enforcement, technology, and government to discuss the shifting dynamic of international crime on the Internet and what steps must be taken to deter these online criminals. Participants include keynote speaker the director of the U.S. Secret Service, Ralph Basham and event hosts John J. Hamre, President and CEO, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Robert Holleyman, President and CEO, Business Software Alliance (BSA). Panelists for the event include Phil Reitinger, Microsoft’s Senior Security Strategist, the director of technology and public policy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies James Lewis, Trial Attorney for the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS) of the U.S. Department of Justice Kim Peretti and others.

With Internet crime soaring, it’s a good sign to see collaborative events such as these between government and business although there is little hope for a truly ubiquitous fight against hackers and spam until all the major players including Russia and China agree to sign on as well.
