The Planet’s Stan O. Barber to Attend Telecom with Vision Tradeshow

January 15, 2008
January 15, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Stan O. Barber, Vice President, Network Operations at web hosting provider The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com) is to attend the Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) “Telecom with Vision” tradeshow and conference. Mr. Barber will deliver an address to the event today (January 15, 2008) at 08:30 HST.

The conference will take place January 15-18, 2008 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa in Honolulu. It will cover a range of issues “related to emerging changes and strategic business drivers that affect today’s telecommunications industry”. Mr. Barber’s address will include a discussion on adoption of IPv6 and “the barriers to entry over the IPv4 standard”.

“As customers demand additional functionality, we will begin to see broader adoption of IPv6,” explained Mr. Barber. “There are no significantly large companies driving adoption, so we face a chicken-and-egg scenario that has plagued widespread deployment. While anyone can connect to IPv6 today using a tunnel broker, it is difficult to use such connections when driving traffic of any significant bandwidth. Having providers deliver IPv6 natively removes this bandwidth barrier and makes it possible for websites, as an example, to deliver the same content with the same experience over IPv6 and IPv4.”

The Planet provides hosting for more than 22,000 small- and medium-size businesses and 3.1 million websites.
