First .ME Domain Auction Generates Big Figures
October 3, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – The first auction of domain names with the ‘.ME’ extension has generated some massive sales figures, it was revealed recently. The Montenegro top-level domain has found a significant niche amongst purchasers who want a domain name which offers an immediate sales pitch by giving users an immediate insight into what a website is all about - “Love.Me” and “Marry.Me” being perfect examples. The recent T.R.A.F.F.I.C. auctions saw eleven premium .ME domain names selling for a massive $218,000.
The auction was necessary because more than one person had previously tried to register each of the domains and the figures generated were quite amazing - Date.Me went for $70,000, Love.Me went for $32,500, Ask.Me went for $20,000, Kiss.Me $20,000, and Buy.Me, $17,500. In addition, Loan.Me went for $15,000, Marry.Me $12,000, Show.Me $10,000, Watch.Me $7,500, Play.Me $7,500 and Rent.Me $6,000.
"We are thrilled with the success of .ME," explained Predrag Lesic, Executive Director of the registry managing ‘.ME’ domains. "The buzz was tremendous during the auction. Clearly the TLD is connecting with people in a big way."
