Dedicated Hosting Company The Planet Sees Record Third Quarter |
 |
October 30, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Dedicated hosting company The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com) has released financial figures which indicate a record third quarter for the company. Highlights for the period include in excess of 1,500 new customers leasing the companys servers and the addition of the new hosted Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) solution - an enterprise-class IT portfolio-in-a-box designed expressly for IT integrators. The solution includes Exchange Server, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and Microsoft SQL Server, bundled with anti-virus and spam protection, and a comprehensive data backup solution.
The Planet also introduced new Dell 840 Kentsfield mid-range servers during the period, as well as high-end dual Clovertown with Xeon 5335 processors. It has also announced a new Ready-To-Go server line with products available in one hour. The company has also improved its private rack offerings and Dedicated Backup offering R1Softs full-featured CDPServer continuous data protection software. The company also introduced three new Dedicated Backup Server storage options. During the period, The Planet also engaged new general managers. Jeff Nelson leads the advanced services business, while Todd Mitchell joined the company to lead the core hosting marketing component. The company also won a number of awards, including placement it the Deloitte Fast Tech 50; the Computer Reseller News Fast Growth list and the Inc. 5000 roster. The Planet produced another record revenue quarter, continuing its inception-to-date string of sequential record quarters, explained Chief Financial Officer Kevin Klausmeyer. Gross margins exceeded 34 percent due to aggressive cost control. EBITDA approximated 29 percent, despite substantial continued investment in the business. Our private rack business is growing very fast, at more than 80%. This business is comprised of our highest ARPU (average revenue per unit) transactions, which range from $500 to $800. Our private rack business is driven by our stickiest customers, who enter into contracts of varying lengths of at least one year.
We are seeing increasingly strong results across the company from our intense focus on customer experience, added Douglas J. Erwin, the companys Chairman and CEO. Customers are our life blood and are directly responsible for our success, so we consistently monitor satisfaction metrics. We continue to drive initiatives that place customers front and center in the products and services we provide, which is enabling us to grow faster than the hosting industry.
The Planet caters for more than 22,000 small- and medium-size businesses and 2.8 million websites worldwide. |
