Web Host The Planet Chooses NTT America to Facilitate IPv6 |

March 25, 2008 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web host The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com) will offer customers IPv6, the next-generation Internet protocol, it was announced yesterday. NTT America Inc. (HTTP://www.nttamerica.com), a US subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation, will facilitate the technology across The Planets network. Work on developing the capability has begun and its expected availability is late 2008.
One of our top priorities at The Planet is to make sure all of our customers have access to the best technologies to keep their businesses competitive now and in the future, said Stan Barber, vice president, Network Operations, at The Planet. As the Internet grows in complexity and becomes even more ubiquitous, were looking to the future so that we are fully prepared to meet the vast needs of our customers. Working with NTT America allows us to add the considerable benefits of IPv6 to The Planets network and to help our customers prepare for the continued impact the Internet will have on their companies.
IPv6 supersedes the current IPv4 deployed in the 1980s. IPv6 offers a range of improvements on its predecessor, increasing address space, providing support for mobile devices, and improving quality of service and data security. NTT Communications Group has been directly involved with the development and deployment of IPv6 technology since 1996.
