Web Host The Planet Releases Financial Results for Last Quarter

October 29, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com) has released financial results for the last quarter, it was reported recently. The company, which bills itself as “the global leader in IT hosting”, reported positive results for the period.

“We had another successful quarter of year-over-year growth rates, which are roughly twice that of the dedicated hosting industry, despite a difficult economic environment around the world,” explained Douglas J. Erwin, the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. “This was a quarter that set a new strategic course for our business, with our entry into managed hosting under the Planet Northstar brand. Coupled with our new Planet Alpha dedicated hosting moniker and an enhanced a la carte services portfolio, we now offer customers the broadest range of technical infrastructure solutions and service options in the business.

“We continue to reap the benefits of previous investments in both our call center and our data center operations,” Mr. Erwin continued. “Customer satisfaction is at an all-time high, and we continue our relentless focus on making The Planet the best choice for SMBs looking for enterprise-class IT infrastructure management.”

“The Planet again produced a record quarter, with our highest year-over-year revenue growth,” added Kevin Klausmeyer, the company’s Chief Financial Officer. “Cash flows remain healthy, and our balance sheet remains strong. We are also pleased about having achieved new levels of efficiency in utilizing our assets.”

Highlights of the quarter included the company gaining 1,600 new customers, “bringing the total to more than 25,000”. However, the company experienced most growth from current customers upgrading and expanding servers. The company’s entry into managed hosting under its Planet Northstar Managed Hosting took place during the period, and the company also “rebranded its core dedicated hosting business under the Planet Alpha moniker”. In addition, the company added new “Alpha Advanced Services” to its dedicated servers hosting portfolio (monitoring, security and server administration) as a result of its purchase of TouchSupport.

Alongside these initiatives, the company also redesigned its website to make navigation easier, added videos which demonstrate “the success of its new managed hosting services” to its main corporate website, and issued a new white paper from the Yankee Group that “details managed hosting services as a tangible consideration for organizations looking to reduce IT costs”. The period also featured a company-wide program to reduce energy consumption.
