TLD Registry Radix Launches Sunrise Period for .website, .press and .host Domain Names
ICANN-registered Top Level Domain (TLD) registry Radix has launched a “Sunrise Period” for domain names with three new suffixes – “.host”, “.website” and “.press”. The new domain names sit alongside 20 new gTLD suffixes the company has invested over $30 Million in securing licenses for over the last several months. These include .blog, .music, .shop and .web.

The Sunrise period will terminate August 23, 2014. A “Landrush” period – when domains names are available for registration by special groups (copyright owners, etc.) – will take place August 26, 2014 to September 15, 2014, and the domains will be available to the general public September 17, 2014 onwards.

To ensure the success of “.host”, “.website” and “.press”, Radix has partnered with over 50 international domain registrars including companies like GoDaddy, 1&1, Tucows and United Domains. The company has also engaged in multimedia marketing campaigns to generate global interest and entice potential sales partners.

“The launch of new domain extensions gives individuals, businesses and organizations a great new way to create a personalized online experience,” explained GoDaddy’s Vice President of Domains, Rich Merdinger. “Radix’s lineup of domain name extensions provide both generic and targeted options, enabling anyone to find the name that’s ‘just right’ for them.”
