Unitrends Boomerang™ the 2015 ‘Cloud Computing Product of the Year’. Unitrends Boomerang™ is a low-cost backup and disaster recovery virtual appliance that enables VMware Virtual Machines (VMs) to be replicated and moved to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. It facilitates the migration of on-premise systems to the cloud by remodeling replicated VMs to native Amazon Machine Images (AMIs). It also utilizes Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and provides network optimization to reduce the cost of protecting VMs in the cloud - VMs can be moved between the data centers and the cloud using a centralized interface which allows administrators to “easily select and prioritize which VMs will be protected in the cloud”.
