Trek Bicycles, one of the world’s most prominent bicycle manufacturers, chose DataPipe after an extensive tour of the New York metropolitan area based office and datacenter.
Trek has attracted a lot of attention lately with the annual Tour de France competition. Trek sponsors Lance Armstrong, who just recently won his sixth consecutive victory of the tour. Technicians report that visitors hit the site over two million times this past month as a result of this world-famous event.
Balancing this bandwidth-intensive traffic is only a part of the infrastructure that DataPipe now manages for the website. Finding the optimal hosting solution began with the request for proposal and team assignment and resulted in the extensive tour of the facility. This is when the team actively sought out the best solution to deploy for Trek’s outsourcing needs.

Ron Campbell, the Senior Account Executive in charge of Trek’s solution, worked with Hoover and other IT specialists to create a scalable infrastructure. Their solution includes a mySQL cluster and a number of application and database servers, all managed securely in DataPipe’s New Jersey datacenter.
