UK hosting provider iomart has acquired fellow web host
Bytemark Hosting (Bytemark). With headquarters in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, iomart offers a range of services including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure public cloud-based managed cloud services. Established in 1998, the company also offers private clouds, hybrid clouds, data center services, colocation, and domain registration. It has eight data centers located around the United Kingdom. iomart was in the news recently for a partnership with cloud provider CommPoint IT. Financial aspects of its acquisition of Bytemark have yet to be released.
Bytemark has headquarters in York, United Kingdom, and was established in 2002. The company bills itself as “UK managed hosting and cloud hosting experts” and offers a number of data center services. These include dedicated packages and colocation offerings. It provides services through a 5,500 square foot data center located in York and offers “100% UK local based support” and “24-hour customer support by phone and email”. iomart will absorb all iomart customers, technology and staff.
The sale was managed by Garbutt and Elliott accountants in York. Bytemark managing director, Matthew Bloch suggested “Garbutt and Elliott shouldered a huge burden. They ran a sharp, competitive process and let us get on with running Bytemark until the deal was done. Their meticulous approach ensured that both parties were pleased and that the process was as smooth as possible.”
