Cbeyond, whose services include web hosting, has shut down Wife-beaters.com, it was widely reported recently.
Wife-beaters.com reportedly sold logo bearing tank tops to self proclaimed wife beaters and offered discounts to anyone convicted of beating their wives. Atlanta-based Cbeyond made the move after receiving a complaint and cited violation of its “Acceptable Use” policy as reason for the site’s removal.
"We are not going to host a site like that," explained Cbeyond's General Counsel, Mr. Bill Weber was quoted as saying, although the site was removed after a complaint made by Mr. Patrick Greene, who complained to the Texas attorney general, the FBI and the Better Business Bureau before finally reporting it to Cbeyond. At the time of this item going to press, Wife-beaters.com was still not operational.
