Florida Hosting Company Supports 1st Amendment Not Graphic Violence or 'Adult Content' pertaining to War in Iraq.
Orlando, FL -- March 26,2003 -- We at Vortech, Inc. would like to take this opportunity to address the public regarding the removal of Yellowtimes.org from our network.
On Monday March 23rd, Vortech, Inc. suspended all service for the website YellowTimes.org. This decision was made after numerous complaints from both our upstream service provider and many other independent parties regarding violent, graphic adult content publicly posted at YellowTimes.org residing on our web server. We contacted YellowTimes.org and asked them to please remove the graphic material, as it was in violation of our Terms of Service. YellowTimes. org chose to ignore our request, therefore their account was suspended. The content in question depicted graphic photographs of U.S. Prisoners of war in Iraq as well as pictures of recently deceased U.S. soldiers. The photographs contained clearly identifiable features of the deceased with no regard to the loved ones of the U.S. Servicemen and Women. The website also had no visible means of protection or warning to those viewers under the age of 18.
While we feel it is not our place to censor such material, we do have a "NO Adult Content" policy for all of our Vortech hosting plans. There is no question that the content posted at YellowTimes.org was indeed adult in nature. Vortech, Inc. defines "Adult Content" as follows:
1) Any website whose revenue is gained in part or whole from its adult content.
2) Any website containing photos or videos showing frontal nudity of either men or women for non-scientific or non-artistic purposes.
3) Any website containing photos or videos showing graphic violence, death or dismemberment.
Yellowtimes.org used a service from our sister site Matrixreseller.com. This service clearly prohibits Adult Content of any kind.

In closing, I feel it is important to note we at Vortech, Inc. strongly believe in the 1st Amendment to the U.S Constitution protecting the freedom of speech of the citizens of this great country. We would also like to make it clear that this decision was not political in nature. We must adhere to the policy created to protect the interests of the vast majority of our client base, which is not to allow content of this type.
