November 20, 2007
November 20, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Utah-based Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting provider SilverRack (http://www.silverrack.com) has launched a number of new features available to its customers at no additional cost, it was reported recently. The features include a server management application that allows users to create backup snapshot images of their servers, as well as a “specialized Ruby on Rails template” which the company is adding to its other VPS templates on offer.

The snapshot feature allows users to create and restore images of their virtual servers. These images can act as a backup of server data. In addition, users can use snapshots to create custom test environments and restore previous versions of software.

SilverRack provides numerous operating system templates with pre-configured software. Ruby on Rails is a web technology designed for rapid development and deployment. SilverRack’s Ruby on Rails VPS image comes pre-configured with CentOS 4, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, Apache 2.2, ImageMagick, and Mongrel. The configuration allows businesses to rapidly and inexpensively put Ruby on Rails applications into production.
