Web and Mobile Unified Messaging Technology Company CommuniGate Systems Publishes Infographic Indicating the Rate Workforces are Moving to Webmail, Mobile Email and Instant Messaging
Web and mobile unified messaging technology company CommuniGate Systems has published an Infographic (a graphic visual representations of information) which indicates the rate that workforces are moving to webmail, mobile email and instant messaging. The company, which has locations in San Francisco, California and Berlin, Germany, based the Infographic on data provided by market analysts and statistics culled from the company's 190 million-account user base. The trends suggested by the Infographic imply a number of issues for hosting providers. They can be viewed here.

The Infographic shows vastly increased usage of email clients on mobile smartphones and tablets over the last years, but also shows that the use of Webmail is now more prominent - in excess of 80% of emails are received using the IMAP protocol, with 72% accessed from either Webmail or mobile email clients. In addition, the Infographic shows workforces now prefer Instant Messaging to email, with the number of Instant Messaging accounts projected to increase from 1.6 billion in 2012 to 3.5 billion in 2015, with 44% of these accounts used in business environments.

The trends suggested by CommuniGate's Infographic mean web hosts might have to address capacity and performance issues in the future. However, the Infographic also indicates how CommuniGate Systems’ open-source cPanel Adaptor Kit and CommuniGate Pro software can more than double VPS server IMAP email, webmail, mobile email and secure Instant Messaging capacity.

"We have found that the shift in the workforce in the last 5 years from PC based communications tools to web and mobile is far more advanced than initially thought," explained CommuniGate Systems' VP Marketing, Scott Stonham. "Many of the people we spoke to grew up on consumer based webmail and IM from Yahoo or Hotmail, and as they moved into the workplace feel more comfortable using web technology, and many have never even configured desktop clients on their computers."
