1&1 has announced the launch of enhanced WordPress options with “optimized workflow” and an improved user experience. The UK-based company with headquarters in Slough, UK, made the announcement at this year’s HostingCon event in Miami, USA. The enhancements also include a new user interface and a “simplified installation process” as well as a WordPress plugin that helps “guide users through the setup process to achieve various goals”. A number of premium themes have also been discounted and made available to customers.
WordPress is an Open Source blogging tool which has over the years morphed into a powerful PHP and MySQL-based Content Management System (CMS). 22% of the top 10 million websites were reported to use the solution in August 2013. 1&1’s enhancements to its WordPress options help users manage key installation milestones like choosing a name for a project and allowing users a level of administration that “optimally fits their needs and schedule”. Once installed users can utilize 1&1’s WordPress Setup Plugin that was developed as a response to customer demand to be able to customize sites.
1&1 is currently offering a 20% discount on WordPress themes designed by third parties. All themes are available through the company’s new control panel. Its 1&1 WP Unlimited Plus package offers 2GB of RAM and is priced at £6.99 ($11.85) per month plus Value Added Tax. However, the company’s range of WordPress packages opens with a special offer of £0.99 ($11.85) plus Value Added Tax for the first year.
