The company, which bills itself as “the world's largest web host by known servers”, will operate the new portal to integrate resources and believes it will raise the standard of what affiliate programs offer members.
According to the company, the portal “combines resources and unique tools that no other affiliate program offers”. The portal also acts as a recruitment tool and “offers a centralized place for advice on starting as an affiliate, tips on how to make high commissions and link-building tools to achieve success”. The site offers online tools such as “SMS texting, a personalized PDF Poster Creator, and a Dynamic Product Page creator to display 1&1 products on affiliates' websites” as well as articles, affiliate newsletters and “tips” on increasing affiliate revenues.
Founded in 1988, 1&1 Internet Inc. is a subsidiary of United Internet and hosts more than 10 million domain names. The company has over 15,000 affiliates in the US and provides a number of methods to track revenues generated by banners and links on affiliate’s websites. The company does not put a cap on what affiliates can earn. In 2008, the company expects to distribute over $40 million to its global affiliates.
