Web host and domain name provider GoDaddy Inc. (GoDaddy) has announced that global launch of cloud servers and cloud applications.

GoDaddy, which has headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States, is one of the World’s biggest providers of hosting and domain names. The company is a household name in the United States, made famous by its risqué Super Bowl commercials which often starred “GoDaddy Girls” in various stages of undress. The company’s commercials gave rise to the term “GoDaddy-esque” advertising.

GoDaddy specializes in providing a range of support services to smaller companies that want a viable internet presence and offers a huge portfolio of services including website builders and Office 365 options. It’s new cloud servers and cloud applications are intended to support developers and allow them to “build, test and scale cloud solutions”.

GoDaddy’s new platform provides OpenStack-based cloud servers and Bitnami-powered cloud applications that offer full control over virtual instances. The solution takes regular snapshots so developers can save configurations and, rather than starting virtual instances afresh, quickly establish a new server based on a particular snapshot. Being cloud based, developers pay only for the resources they use on an hourly basis but they can also pay a monthly basis.

Through its partnership with Bitnami, GoDaddy's Cloud Applications allow “one-click optimized installation” for a range of solutions such as the WordPress and Drupal Content Management Systems (CMSs), the Odoo Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions, and OpenCart and Magento ecommerce solutions.
