GoDaddy has announced the launch of products and services in the Hindi, Marathi and Tamil languages. GoDaddy, which has headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States, was established in 1997. A globally recognized brand, the company focuses on providing solutions that allow SMEs and larger organizations to establish a viable web presence. It offers a complete suite of tools that allow a company to design, create and host a website. GoDaddy is recognized as one of the biggest providers of hosting and domain names worldwide and has been involved in setting up services around the world for some time.
India has the second largest number of SMEs in the world – a staggering 51 million companies. However, a good number of these do not have an online presence because language is a barrier. GoDaddy research conducted in 2015 suggested 63% of Indian small businesses have no website. By offering services in local languages, GoDaddy could reach an audience that represents around 60% of India’s internet traffic.
“No matter which way you cut it, language is a big part of India. We look at the way internet is evolving in India,” website chollywood.info reported GoDaddy India and Australia’s Managing Director Rajiv Sodhi as saying. “We want to treat language as a first-class citizen. In the care centres, when we flipped open the IVR (interactive voice response), which presented the user with language choice, 40% of our call volume shifted to local language in a matter of one or two days,” he added.
