Web Host and Domain Name Provider HostGator Announces Small Business Scholarship Winners
Web host and domain name provider HostGator has announced the winners of its Small Business Scholarships. HostGator, an Endurance International Group brand, has headquarters in Houston, Texas, United States. The company is a leading provider of hosting products and services including shared web hosting, VPS hosting, reseller hosting, dedicated servers, and Windows and WordPress hosting. This is the first time the company has offered its scholarships, which have been awarded to three students.

The winners of the initiative will receive $1,500 in funds to “provide assistance for student expenses such as tuition, fees, books and on-campus room and board”. The program launched in May 2016, and since then the company received applications from around 100 students at colleges around the United States. The aim of the initiative is designed to “provide a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs and tech professionals to share their ideas for advancing the future of small business development”.

Applicants were asked to answer this question: "What is the biggest tech challenge facing small businesses today, and what is your proposed solution?" Logan Miller, an undergraduate student at Arizona State University's School of Sustainability, Chelsea Sumner, from Wagner College's Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing, and Raquel Solares, graduate student at Arizona State University's Thunderbird School of Global Management were judged to have raised the most pertinent issues and provided the most valid solutions.
