Web host and domain provider GoDaddy Inc. (
GoDaddy) has collaborated with media company Onion, Inc. (Onion). GoDaddy, which has headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States, provides a range of services that target smaller companies offering everything they need to establish a viable web presence. The company maintains 63 million domain names and caters to 14.5 million customers globally. It is no stranger to advertising and in part built its globally recognized brand through risqué Super Bowl adverts that often featured 'GoDaddy Girl' and professional stock car racing driver, Danica Patrick. The two companies have developed a video series that focuses on ‘The Internet’ - a character introduced in GoDaddy’s 2017 Super Bowl advertising.
A Fusion Media Group company, under Univision Communications Inc., Onion “caters to young, diverse audiences across a range of platforms and languages”. The company owns the FUSION TV and El Rey Network cable networks alongside websites that include Gizmodo, Deadspin, Lifehacker, Jezebel, Kotaku, Jalopnik, Fusion, The Root, The Onion, The AV Club and Clickhole. Combined these sites receive 92 million visitors monthly. Together GoDaddy and Onion have produced eight videos that “dive deeper into The Internet's backstory.
