Arvixe now enables its customers to choose the location of the data center that holds the server they utilize. The San Luis Obispo, California-based company is providing this vital new service free of charge when customers apply for hosting accounts.
Websites viewed in Europe often suffer the detrimental effects of latency when the servers hosting them are located in the United States. Alongside reduced performance, hosting on a server that is physically on the other side of the world can prove a handicap for webmasters and developers. Despite this, the bulk of web hosts do not offer a choice of geographical location for server/data center, or do so for an additional fee.
Arvixe allows customers to choose a US or European-based data center to house their server. Customers simply chose ’EU’ or ‘US’ from a dropdown menu when setting up a server with the variety of functions Arvixe servers provide. The service is available through the company’s ‘PersonalClass’ shared web hosting plan, which is utilized by ‘thousands of customers’ for a range of purposes, including business hosting, ecommerce hosting and blogs. The company is working towards offering the option through its other solutions.
