LayerOnline has announced the launch of an Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 cloud backup capability for its customers. LayerOnline has headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the company was founded in 2008. The company caters to customers in 200 countries, offering a wide range of services including web hosting, SSD hosting, cloud hosting and WordPress hosting options. Its services also extend to DDOS protection and domain name registration. LayerOnline’s new backup capability allows customers to back up their websites.
Amazon S3 is a “reliable industry standard cloud storage” which leverages AES-256 encryption and generates “triple replications” that are available in different geographical locations (from which customers can restore sites should their original server be down). Known as "time machine", it is available to the company’s customers free of charge for “one year retention”.
"We are excited to be one of the first to provide Amazon S3 cloud backup to our customers and do it for free, and to have a retention of one year, because we know how important those website data are to businesses,” explained a LayerOnline Spokesperson. ”We chose Amazon S3 because so Amazon is the industry leader in cloud storage and they have a very matured and reliable cloud infrastructure."
