January 19, 2009 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web host LeaseWeb and HP are partnering on a number of activities that will include Green IT, it was reported recently. Amongst other things, the partnership focuses on supplying HP solutions which will reduce the energy consumption within the companys hosting infrastructure. According to LeaseWeb, it opted for HP because its activities and products are energy efficient and compatible with LeaseWebs vision and with LeaseWebs green proposition via the energy-efficient data center EvoSwitch (www.evoswitch.com).
Through the partnership, LeaseWeb will offer products and services that include HP ProLiant Servers DL120 and DL180. In addition, a "Scalable Configurable Infrastructure server custom-made for LeaseWeb will be utilized for Factory Express services for configured and cabled racks and remote management, and virtual KVM switches via iLO (remote IP management).
HP has a broad portfolio of innovative products and technologies which enable companies to optimize their data centers and so contribute to improving the environment, explained LeaseWebs Sales Director, Ruud Mous. HP has invested considerably in green technology and the development of energy-efficient servers. That makes HP the ideal partner for us.
LeaseWeb is a major player in the hosting market and like HP wants to reduce energy consumption, added HP Nederlands Business Unit Manager Industry Standard Servers, Laurent Pacqui. We are therefore very pleased with this partnership, because partners such as LeaseWeb are essential for the success of HP and for creating energy-efficient and environment-friendly hosting platforms. By viewing the IT platform from an environmentally conscious standpoint, companies can reduce their energy consumption, and also realize more hardware per square meter. They hence not only contribute to improving the environment but also reduce their costs.
LeaseWeb bills itself as an international supplier of hosting solutions which are primarily directed at the business market. The companys services include domain name registration, web hosting, dedicated hosting, colocation, server virtualization and streaming. The company has a presence in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Frankfurt, New York, Vienna, Stockholm, Warsaw, Zurich, Prague and Madrid.
