OVH has bought a data center near Portland in Oregon, United States. OVH, which has headquarters in Roubaix, France, is one of Europe’s leading providers. The company offers a wide range of services including web hosting, cloud technologies, VPS, dedicated servers and domain name registration. It also provides disaster recovery solutions. This is the second facility OVH now owns and operates in the United States.
Established in 1999, OVH is recognized as Europe’s largest web hosting provider. Located in Hillsboro, Oregon, on the outskirts of Portland, the company’s latest facility underscores its global expansion plans. The center will house around 80,000 servers which will be cooled by the company’s energy-saving water-based systems that enable OVH to run processors faster. It joins a network of what now boasts 23 data centers worldwide and the company is planning another data center in Vint Hill, Virginia, United States, which scheduled to open later this year.
“For years, leading tech companies have been trying to figure out how to cool their data centers for less money,” explained OVH US’ Vice President of Research and Development, Pascal Jaillon. “Legacy data centers have been using expensive forced air conditioning to cool servers. OVH’s innovation in data center cooling is just the first of many that will be introduced in this growing market.”
