Web Host The Planet Appoints New Data Center Operations Executive

January 30, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com) has appointed a new data center operations executive, the company announced today. Mr. Scott King has been appointed Senior Director, Data Center Operations – a new role within the organization. Reporting to Vice President, Sales and Operations, Mr. James P. Treuting, Mr. King is responsible for “data center operations across the company’s six world-class data centers in Houston and Dallas”.

Mr. King offers his new role a “broad range of experience in managing enterprise-class data centers and technical teams across multiple operating platforms and applications”. He spent eight years in a number of roles (including Manager of Quality Assurance, Manager of Customer Support and as a Technical Account Manager) at Data Return. Previous experience includes work with Software Spectrum, where he served as a software engineer. He directed a 106-person support-services organization that included management responsibilities for all server-side operational and network support, in addition to data centers and change administration.

“Scott King brings to The Planet tremendous skills and expertise in managing large and complex data center operations,” explained Mr. Treuting. “Throughout his career, he has implemented policies and procedures to advance strong relationships between technical staffs and the customers they serve. As an ITIL-certified manager, he has a keen knowledge of the advanced skills and standards required for world-class data center management.”
