September 28, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Fort Bragg-based Web Hosting Company AIT has announced the development of GovTide - a new portal technology that promises to give civilian vendors access to billions of dollars in defense contracts and help keep defense earnings in the communities where defense projects are located. The US military spends around a quarter of a trillion dollars annually on a range of products ranging from textiles to professional services. GovTide simply matches registered civilian contractors with the needs of defense procurement offices. The technology is licensed to the North Carolina Military Business Center and the center’s Executive Director Scott Dorney suggested, “In a matter of months, contracts worth more than $1-billion have been posted in the database. There is no guarantee, of course, that all of the contracts will be awarded to in-state businesses, but without this portal, I can guarantee that few of them would be.”
