January 17, 2006 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting company SiteGround Web Hosting (http://www.siteground.com) has announced that it is sponsoring a competition for users of TextPattern Templates (http://textplates.com) – an open source CMS system. The company will give a 30GB iPod Video to the most successful TextPattern designer to take part in the competition.
As a company SiteGround has a strong leaning towards open source software and the community that develops it. SiteGround offers TextPattern as part of its hosting packages alongside a number of other open source options. SiteGround’s TextPattern hosting services include free software installation and expert support for TextPattern users. SiteGround has suggested the competition is one way it can give back to the open source community.
Given the support of sponsors, the competition organizers are expecting it to be successful. Tom Fadial, the main organizer, suggested he was expecting “hundreds of submissions” and said that he is convinced the competition will “bring originality in design to the Textpattern CMS.”
