Web Hosting Provider 1&1 Internet, Inc. Announces New Data Center

February 7, 2007
February 7, 2007 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Web hosting provider 1&1 Internet, Inc. (1&1) (http://www.1and1.com) has announced the launch of a new data center. The company’s new operation is housed in a state-of-the-art facility in Kansas, USA. The company has also announced the launch of a new line of dedicated and virtual private servers (VPS).

The new Lenexa Data Center has fiber-optic connectivity to several ISPs, high redundant capacity and is capable of routing thousands of Terabytes if data per month. The facility offers security features that include steel-reinforced walls and backup diesel generators. The data center’s connectivity and security capacities have enabled the company to offer a new dedicated and VPS line.

1&1’s dedicated servers offer dual and quad core servers equipped with AMD hardware and provide up to 8 GB RAM and a Plesk 100 license. 1&1 VPS service offers partitioned servers with partitions that function as a “virtual server dedicated to a single customer”.

“Since 1&1 sold out servers in October 2006, this new line of servers is a welcome and much requested addition,” explained 1&1 Internet’s Chairman Andreas Gauger. “While the dedicated servers continue to be ideal for the professional that wants exclusive control and maximum power, the VPS solutions will appeal to those who seek greater control than with a regular hosting plan and need the flexibility of a root server to install their own security and software. In this regard, our new range of VPS is filling the gap between the full power of a dedicated server and the 1&1 shared hosting plans.”
