Web Hosting Provider 1&1 Launches Dynamic Cloud Server
January 12, 2010
January 12, 2010 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – With the Dynamic Cloud Server 1&1 Internet Ltd, the world's largest web host by known servers, today announced a new server category with highly flexible configuration options. RAM, CPU cores and disk space can be individually customised and as needed adapted during the whole contract lifetime. In doing so, users only have to pay for the capacity that they need, for example, for websites, online shops, games or web applications.
When ordering the product, the user determines the basic settings including the preferred operating system. Several Linux variants are offered as well as the Windows Server 2008 in Web or Standard edition, and the Windows 7 version "R2". For standard applications such as email, data base, web hosting or game server, 1&1 still offers optimised default settings.
Should the server load change in time, perhaps because an advertising campaign achieves an increase in website traffic, the configuration options can be adapted via the Control Panel, which is highly intuitive and easy to use. In this way, users are free to select up to 4 processor kernels, between 1 and 15 GB RAM, as well as between 100 and 800 GB disk space. With the Dynamic Cloud Server, it will also be possible, for the first time, to change between Linux and Windows operating systems.
The minimum contract term (MCT) for the Dynamic Cloud Server can be selected as either 1 or 12 months. Additional CPU store, RAM or disk space can be changed daily. Billing for these features will be made monthly.
The Basic package of the Dynamic Cloud Server is priced at £29.99/month+VAT and includes 1 Core, 1 GB RAM and 100 GB disk space. Every additional processor kernel, further RAM or 100 GB disk space is available for only £5/month+VAT. As a special introductory offer, the 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server Basic package is offered free for the first 3 months.
1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server is based on the virtual platform XEN. The virtual processor kernels of the multi-kernel AMD Opteron 2352 CPUs deliver 2 GHz processing power. Furthermore, the product includes 1 domain name, one IP address, 100 email accounts on the 1&1 email system and unlimited traffic. Additional IP addresses, domain names and further features can easily be added.
