December 3, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Amenworld (http://amenworld.com) has found that many UK small businesses are missing out on online business activity which could give them a share of a £30bn (£62bn) market. The company conducted a survey of 400 UK businesses and found around half of the companies who want it, do not have an online shopping capability.

The survey suggested the key reason for a company not pursuing an online shopping Web site was lack of technical knowledge. In addition, companies were worried about finding the right products to put online. They also had major concerns about cost, and the length of time an online shopping site would take to develop. According to the survey, only 11% of those asked felt there was nothing standing in the way of them developing an online presence.

“The Internet is the only place where small businesses can compete with global organizations,” explained Amenworld’s UK Marketing Manager, Mr. Andrew Fassnidge. “Internet sales are set to double in the next five years, but too many businesses are put off selling online by the perceived complexity and expense of online shops”.
