Web Hosting Provider and Certificate Authority Go Daddy Awarded WebTrust Seal of Assurance Again

August 30, 2007
August 30, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider and certificate authority Go Daddy has once again been awarded the WebTrust Seal of Assurance, it was reported yesterday. This is the 4th year in a row that Go Daddy has received the award.

The WebTrust Seal of Assurance, awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, applies to Go Daddy’s SSL Certificates, which protect private material and data exchanged online. The award also covers Go Daddy’s processes for ensuring its certificates are issued properly.

“We want consumers to know their personal data and business transactions online are secure,” explained Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of Go Daddy. “That’s why we offer a variety of superior SSL Certificates that can be placed on Web sites to provide for the encryption of sensitive data and give those websites additional credibility. These certificates are for more than just ecommerce. They can also help protect your personal information."

Go Daddy’s SSL certificates enable up to 256-bit encryption and the company also offers Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates for secure online businesses. SSL Certificates show a padlock icon and the prefix “https” before the domain name in the address bar of an Internet browser. EV SSL Certificates offer the same features with the name of the organization that owns the EV SSL Certificate showing in the address bar when using Internet Explorer 7.

“Go Daddy’s work in helping to create EV SSL Certificate guidelines and repeated recognition with the WebTrust Seal of Assurance show how serious we are about heightening security for online transactions,” said Parsons. “People want to know right away they are on a legitimate, secure website before they exchange information and we want them to have that peace of mind.”
