Web Hosting Provider and Domain Registration Provider Go Daddy Registers a Third of .MOBI Domain Names

November 1, 2006
November 1, 2006 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting and domain name registration provider Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com) has registered a third of the ‘.MOBI’ domain names registered worldwide, the company announced today. These figures establish the company as a leader in the area, as does the most recent data on the subject – only last week GoDaddy.com provided 68% of all ‘.MOBI’ domain name registrations.

“We’re really happy to be working with an Internet leader like Go Daddy,” suggested Neil Edwards, CEO of the company managing the domain, Mobile Top Level Domain, Ltd. (dotMobi). “From the beginning, Bob Parsons understood the power of the mobile web and these sales show Go Daddy is getting that message across.”

Domain names with the ‘.MOBI’ extension are dedicated to delivering websites that are configured to be viewed through mobile devices. ‘.MOBI’ sites limit graphics and content, reducing long download times and excessive scrolling. With mobile data services estimated to generate $112 billion by 2008, ‘.MOBI’ has been an immediate success and that success it likely to be continued.

“We’re pleased with the success of dot mobi,” suggested Go Daddy Founder and CEO Bob Parsons. “With millions of wireless phones worldwide, the mobile Web is a huge market. We knew that long ago and put the infrastructure in place to help our customers wanting to join the dot mobi revolution. They can count on Go Daddy’s low prices and 24/7 customer support to get there.”
