November 3, 2006 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider DiscountASP.NET has announced the launch of the Open Control Panel Initiative and the Phase I beta launch of a control panel API with the objective of providing its customers with “maximum control over their hosting presence management”. In addition, the company has introduced a standards-based ASP.NET web service API library that allows customers to develop web, desktop, or mobile applications that interface directly with their web hosting accounts.
“We believe the Open Control Panel Initiative and our control panel API represent a major step toward a next-generation hosting experience,” explained DiscountASP.NET’s Vice President of Marketing, Takeshi Eto. “Our customers can move beyond accepting hosting management using a host-defined web-based control panel. Customers now have a choice to use the control panel as a hosted application product or manage their hosting presence through web services and customized user-driven solutions.”
Customers access the API through their control panel and a Sandbox Key is provided to allow customers to test applications without making changes to their hosting account. DiscountASP.NET has provided a downloaded from the DiscountASP.NET Community Forum (http://community.discountasp.net) which includes binary and source code which its customers are “free to extend”.
