August 9, 2006 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider DiscountASP.NET has launched an “automated on-demand SQL database transfer tool for SQL 2005 hosting,” the company announced recently. The tool, an “Attach MDF File” tool, “facilitates the transfer of local SQL 2005 Express and local SQL 2005 databases to the hosted production SQL 2005 database.” It is available as part of the SQL Tool Suite in DiscountASP.NET’s control panel and provided at no additional cost to the company’s customers.
“We have seen an increase in the number of customers who develop with the freely available SQL 2005 Express on their local environment. However, since SQL 2005 Express support is not recommended in a production shared hosting environment, many developers are experiencing some difficulty in migrating their schema and data to a live hosting environment,” explained Takeshi Eto, VP Marketing.
DiscountASP.NET’s new SQL 2005 Tool allows developers to “detach their local SQL 2005 Express or local SQL 2005 database” and upload an MDF file to their web site. The tool automatically attaches the MDF file to the hosted production SQL 2005 database.
