Web Hosting Provider Freeparking Upsets Customers with Migration Blunders
Web hosting provider Freeparking has upset its customers after a bungled migration left customers unable to access hosting and email accounts. Established in 2000, the company, which has headquarters in New Plymouth, New Zealand, offers a “complete website solution” with services that include shared hosting and Virtual Private Servers (VPS) alongside dedicated server and mobile website options. An arm of the ICONZ-Webvisions Group, it caters to over 30,000 customers, some of which were not able to use its services for over a week recently.

The company migrated to a new domain registration and hosting platform between 22-25 May 2015 and this caused a number of customer-related issues. These included customers being unable to login to control panels and email accounts, and being unable to utilize domain forwarding. Although the company has stated that the bulk of problems have already been addressed, the company has not been able to respond to the huge number of emails they have received and inform all of its customers that its issues have been rectified.

“Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We really value your business and are doing our best to support all our customers,” suggested the company’s blog. “As you may be aware; there have been a few post-migration issues, but most of these have been resolved. However, because of the huge backlog of tickets we may not get around quickly enough to answer all of them.”
