Web Hosting Provider Go Daddy One of the Leaders in Website Security

May 16, 12007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Go Daddy is currently one of the leaders in providing website security, it was announced yesterday. According to a company statement, a new survey suggests Go Daddy is currently the #2 provider of SSL certificates.

Go Daddy’s statement quoted Rich Miller of Netcraft, an Internet services and web host monitoring company, as saying, “Go Daddy has a 14.7 percent share of the SSL certificate market. The company has seen an exceptional gain in this type of business recently and customers recognize Go Daddy as a leader in SSL certificate products.”

Netcraft conducts a monthly SSL survey and has done so since 1996 when there were only “3,300 SSL sites with valid third party certificates”. According to Netcraft, there are currently “600,000 SSL certificates in use on the Internet”. Go Daddy is helping meet the increased demand for SSL certificates, which is driven by a growth in website visitors who demand increased security. SSL certificates increase confidence in a particular website by providing validation of its authenticity.

“We’re pleased that Internet users are not only taking care to use sites that have SSL certificates, but also are realizing the need to secure their own websites,” said Go Daddy’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Warren Adelman. “We make it easy for customers to create a secure website by offering domain names, hosting, SSL certificates and all of the other related Internet products they need.”
