Web Hosting Provider Host Color Adds Moodle

May 26, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Host Color (http://www.hostcolor.com) has added Moodle to each of its web hosting packages, it was announced recently. Moodle CMS (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment), an Open Source software, is a Content Management System that allows users to create online courses – especially useful for training organizations and educational institutions. The solution is available through Host Color's PowerTools autoinstaller software library.

"Mooodle is a Multi OS CMS that runs without modification on any system that supports PHP. The CMS is designed in a modular way, which means it is very flexible,” explained Host Color’s Marketing Manager, Alexander Avramov. “Another good thing is that site owners can upgrade Moodle very easily from one version to the next, because it has an internal system to handle database upgrades."

Moodle software “requires only one database” and is extremely secure. The solution’s development team says the software “promotes social constructionist pedagogy, a method which includes collaboration, activity-based learning, and critical reflection”. Moodle is suitable both for online teaching and for use as supplemental face-to-face learning system. It comes with simple, lightweight, efficient, compatible, low-tech browser interface.

The move comes on the heels of Host Color’s addition of osTicket to its shared hosting offerings. Both solutions sit alongside a range of software available through the company’s PowerTools autoinstaller software library, which provides WordPress, b2Evolution, TextPattern blog platforms, MODx, Drupal and Joomla CMS, Dolphin and Orca, Pligg, Lime Survey and MediaWiki social media; phpBB, Vanilla and SMF forum software, OpenX ad management system, and Image gallery scripts, amongst other solutions.

Based in the US, Host Color is incorporated in Delaware. The company caters for “thousands of small business and personal websites” through data centers in South Bend, Indiana, US and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The company also provides fully managed dedicated hosting through HC Servers (http://www.hostcolorservers.com) and makes discounts available to academics and non-governmental organizations.
