Web Hosting Provider iomart Supports Twestival in Two UK Cities

March 24, 2010
March 24, 2010 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – iomart Hosting is proud to be supporting two of the UK’s largest city Twestivals in London and Glasgow.

The managed hosting and cloud computing services company, will be taking an active part in both events by giving revellers the opportunity to get 'fresh and fruity' on the night by offering a selection of smoothies and fruit drinks to anyone who tweets their order during the event.

The company is providing smoothies on demand at the London Twestival (Cable Club) and supplying a Twestival Fruit punch at the Glasgow Event (Lansdowne Bar). The five managed hosting themed smoothies on offer in London include the On Demand Orange, Cool Cranberry Cloud, Berry Burstin’ Bandwidth, Hot Hosting Hootch & the iSoothie. A member of the iomart Hosting marketing team will attempt to attend both events on the same night, personally delivering messages of support and goodwill from the organisers of one Twestival to the other.

Amanda Rose who founded Twestival said, “Organising online and gathering offline allows Twestival to harness the incredible communication power of twitter to propel participation in real events. By using social media platforms such as twitter, Twestival is able to connect hundreds of independent local events into a powerful global initiative."

Twestivals are organised 100% by volunteers and 100% of ticket sales and donations go direct to the charity’s projects. The theme of this year’s Twestival Global is education. Humanitarian organisation, Concern Worldwide has been selected as the chosen recipient for the funds raised by Twestival, for the work it does addressing the needs of the world’s 72 million poor and marginalised children who don’t have the opportunity to go to school.

The first Global Twestival held in 2009, raised over $250,000 USD enabling the chosen charity, Charity:Water, to establish more than 55 wells in Uganda, Ethiopia and India and provide clean drinking water to over 17,000 people.

Phil Worms, Marketing Director iomart Hosting, said: “Twitter is often referred to as a tool for the ‘self absorbed’, but in the case of Twestival it provides real evidence that social media, when used effectively, can play a vital part in communicating an important message on a global level within seconds for the greater good.”

"For many of the world's citizens, basic day to day survival is a struggle, and without the help and support of organisations such as Concern Worldwide there would be little or no hope. By supporting your local Twestival you will be bestowing children one of the greatest gifts that they can receive: opportunity. It only costs $28 USD to provide the uniform, books, pencils, and paper a child needs to attend one year of school and I would urge anyone who uses Twitter to get involved by supporting their local Twestival on the 25th. We can't ever hope to be a truly aspirational society if we do not open up the possibilities that education offers.”
