June 12, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Macquarie Hosting (http://www.macquarietelecom.com/hosting), a division of Macquarie Telecom, has joined the new VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP), it was announced today. Under the program, the company will deliver virtualized hosting services via VMware infrastructure to give customers the choice to go either physical or virtual with their online mission critical server infrastructure
Under the program, Macquarie Telecom will also develop customized virtual infrastructure offerings to meet specific customer requirements. "Macquarie Hosting's managed server virtualization offering gives customers with high-availability, mission critical online applications, the same level of proactive management, security and performance they expect from traditional hosted server environments,” explained Macquarie Telecom’s Managing Director Hosting, Aidan Tudehope. “However, virtualization offers a range of additional benefits including superior levels of agility, scalability, and business continuity. Backed by VMware’s infrastructure, Macquarie Hosting’s virtual server offering means we can now help organizations significantly reduce their hardware costs while ensuring they remain available and responsive to customers,” he added.
The VMware software permits dedicated managed servers in the Macquarie Hosting data centre to be partitioned into multiple "virtual" machines. Customers are then provided their own virtual private server or virtual server farm, the capacity of which can be scaled up or down depending on their specific needs. Security is enhanced by third-party accreditation standards. Certifications include ISO 27001, an international standard designed to help businesses with a global presence secure their information assets and boost their defenses against costly information security attacks, and DSD Gateway, a federal Australian government standard that offers assurance that Macquarie Telecom’s Internet gateway provides protection from external threats.
