Web Hosting Provider Rochen and R1Soft Partner, Launch Enterprise Imaging Backup Platform

May 1, 2007
May 1, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting and reseller hosting solutions provider Rochen (http://www.rochen.com) and R1Soft (http://www.r1soft.com) have partnered to launch an Enterprise Imaging Backup Platform, it was announced recently. Rochen will deploy Continuous Data Protection (CDP) on each of its servers making an “enterprise-level backup solution” available to all customers as standard” to all customers hosted by Rochen out of their Dallas, Texas co-location space. Rochen’s new service will be known as "Rochen Vault".

The service takes server snapshots over one hour, six hours, twelve hours, twenty-four hours, forty-eight hours, one week and one month periods. Using the solution, in cases where disaster recovery is required, Rochen will be able to replace failed hardware and ”re-image” a server to operational status using the snapshots “without the need for reloading the Operating System (OS) or control panel software first”. The process reduces downtime and data loss when compared to the conventional backup systems.

"As well as providing a fantastic disaster recovery tool to work in conjunction with our current backup and redundancy systems such as hardware RAID-10 with hot-spare disks, local server backups and off-site NAS file backups CDP will provide a revolutionary platform allowing our customers instant access to their backups directly through our Rochen Vault recovery site,” explained Rochen’s Head of Systems Engineering, Mr. Ben Johnson. “Customers have the ability to roll-back their entire account or select individual files to roll back on the fly from any seed we have stored for them."

"Being able to provide a nearly-continuous data protection solution to Rochen will help solve their initial goal when contacting us, which was the need to further protect their clients' data," added R1Soft’s CEO and Founder, Mr. David Wartell.

"With more businesses creating executive blogs, launching company discussion forums and deploying dynamic Web 2.0 applications where data is changing far more frequently than it did in the past daily backup systems just don't cut it anymore," suggested Mr. Chris Adams, CEO of Rochen. "Moreover, with increasing amounts of data traditional systems simply can't deliver acceptable restoration times. We are going to continue investing heavily over the next year in bringing a whole range of enterprise tools like CDP to our shared and reseller hosting customers to help meet this changing hosting landscape; this is really only the beginning!"
