August 25, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Websense, a global leader in Internet filtering and web security solutions, has claimed that EDB (http://www.edbbusinesspartner.com/), a business-critical IT services provider, hosts malicious files on its website, a number of reports suggested this week.
A Websense statement suggested, "Websense Security Labs has discovered that the website of EDB Business Partner has been compromised and infects visitors with malicious code that attempts to drop two files. Websense customers are prevented from inadvertently visiting this site. Both files dropped are of malicious intent. The first is a World of Warcraft Trojan, and the second is designed to detect antivirus protection."
According to Websense, the malicious code on EDBs website exploits an Internet Explorer vulnerability that was patched early 2007. The company suggests, visitors to the website using browers without the patch may have been infected.
