WordPress and Magento Hosting Provider Nexcess Attains SSAE-16 SOC 1 Type 2 Certification
WordPress and Magento hosting provider Nexcess has attained SSAE-16 SOC 1 Type 2 certification, the previous version of which was known as the SAS 70 standard. The company, which is based in Southfield, Michigan, complied with the industry standard after a 3rd party examination (including a audit and inspection) covering companies involved in data center and web hosting services.

Established in 2000, Nexcess operates its own data centers in Dearborn and Southfield, Michigan, USA. The company offers a range of web hosting options with a focus on offering ecommerce web sites. With a range of customers involved in ecommerce, the standard is particularly applicable to Nexcess.

The company's compliance with SSAE-16 SOC 1 Type 2 indicates it has key business operation controls (such as financial reporting) in place. Attestation and compliance services organization Brightline CPAs & Associates, Inc., a qualified CPA, conducted the examination.

“We're always aware that safety, security, and accountability are primary concerns for our hosting clients, “ explained Nexcess, President and CEO, Chris Wells. “Our clients trust us because we’re always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that they are able to verify the standards and controls we have in place. Allowing 3rd party experts to examine those controls is a critical component in that ongoing process.”
