WordPress Hosting and Management Company Flywheel Acquires Local WordPress Manager Pressmatic
WordPress hosting and management company Flywheel has acquired local WordPress manager Pressmatic. Flywheel, which has headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, United States, offers a range of hosting services designed with designers and creative agencies in mind. The company prides itself of making it “simple to build, launch, and manage client sites” through a dashboard “built from the ground up for the modern web designer”. Since the acquisition Pressmatic has changed names to “Local by Flywheel” and is now offered free of charge.

Pressmatic is a local WordPress development app that is popular amongst developers. The solution allows developers to run WordPress on Apple’s OS X operating system. This means that developers can develop sites from local machines without the necessity of developing in hosted WordPress installations. Traditionally the solution cost $129 per download but is now available cost free. Pressmatic’s founder, Clay Griffiths, will now work with the Flywheel team to continue the solution’s development.

“We’re super stoked about this acquisition,” explained the co-founder and CEO of Flywheel, Dusty Davidson. “From the start, the application encompassed so many of Flywheel’s core values: speed, simplicity, and allowing designers and developers the freedom to do what they love. It’s a perfect fit.”
