XO Communications Delivers Voice and Data Networking Solution for Grant Thornton

Leading Accounting Firm Relies on XO to Connect 45+ Sites under $3 Million Contract

RESTON, VA – November 17, 2004 – XO Communications, Inc. (OTCBB: XOCM.OB), the nation’s largest facilities-based provider of national local telecommunications services focused exclusively on businesses, today announced that it has entered into a three-year agreement worth approximately $3 million with Grant Thornton, one of the world’s leading accounting firms dedicated to mid-size companies. Under the terms of the agreement, XO is providing a voice and data networking solution that has replaced the network previously provided by Grant Thornton’s former telecommunications services provider.

XO has deployed a data networking solution connecting Grant Thornton’s corporate headquarters and more than 45 offices across the U.S. XO is also providing long distance voice services for all of Grant Thornton’s office locations as well as local voice services in select markets. By migrating from its legacy frame relay network to XO’s private data networking solution, Grant Thornton will be able to significantly reduce costs while increasing the bandwidth capabilities and reliability of its data network.

“We’re very pleased with the extraordinary level of customer service and reliability of our new XO solution,” said Madison Morrison, manager of Network Engineering at Grant Thornton. “XO was very responsive to our needs and its ability to support all of our locations and implement a comprehensive data and voice solution ahead of schedule confirms that XO is the best choice to support our firm’s growing telecommunications needs.”

“Grant Thornton went through an extensive process to select a telecommunications services provider that could meet its unique, multi-location requirements on a wide range of criteria,” said Matt Harty, president of Commercial Sales at XO Communications. “The quality of XO services coupled with XO’s focus on superior customer service were key factors in Grant Thornton’s selection of XO as its primary provider. We’re very pleased to have won their trust and business.”
