March 20, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – XSI Hosting (http://www.xsihosting.com), an Internet Service Provider and subsidiary of Xanadu Servers, Inc., announced today it has introduced redundant Domain Name Service (DNS) and mail servers after nearly a year of development and preparation.
The new servers allow the company to provide DNS and email solutions from multiple physical locations, currently both in the United States and England. By geographically dispersing these services, XSI Hosting can ensure email is not be lost if a connection to a main server were to go down for any reason. The redundant DNS allows for faster domain name lookups, thereby increasing website load speed.
“We introduced redundant DNS and mail servers to provide a higher level of service and reliability to our customers, especially as we continue to deploy more advanced and mission-critical business-class offerings,” said Larry Stevens, CEO of XSI Hosting parent company Xanadu Servers, Inc.
The redundant DNS servers work by mirroring the same data across all servers, with each server returning identical records when queried by users. The redundant mail servers simply retain all incoming email messages until a primary server can download the messages and deliver them to the respective recipient.
“The impact of redundancy is simple but important: if our primary servers face downtime, for whatever reason, we are fully prepared to provide seamless DNS and email services,” said Stevens. “That’s something our customers can really count on.”
The company hopes to eventually add servers to additional countries to increase the redundancy of its network and provide better access for a wider variety of customers. It will also use the additional mail servers to aid in unsolicited bulk email (Spam) mitigation.
XSI Hosting maintains its United States servers at the SolutionPro datacenter in Boise, Idaho. Boise is listed as one of the safest and least prone to disaster cities in the United States, offering an additional level of security for hosted sites. |
