February 9, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Earlier, Netcraft.com reported that Benedelman.org, a vendor of anti-spyware and anti-adware software was brought down by a DDOS attack.
"For much of Monday and Tuesday, as well as several hours last week, all of benedelman.org was unreachable. My prior web host, Globat, tells me I was the target of the biggest DDoS attack they've ever suffered -- some 600MB+/second," said site author Benjamin Edelman. "DDoS attacks continue, but I'm fortunate to be back online -- entirely thanks to incredible assistance from Paul Vixie of the Internet Systems Consortium. "
Currently as of 11:00pm EST the Netcraft site is unavailable.
Attempts to reach the site result in a long pause and then a "The page you are looking for is currently unavailable." error message.
The person or group who attacked Edelman's site could have been motivated to attack the Netcraft site when they could no longer attack Benedelman.org because Netcraft reported them.
